How do I become a member of the m-card loyalty programme?

To become a Member, applicants must become registered account holders by:

1. Creating an account

2. Completing a hard copy registration form

3. Submitting the registration form in-store at McElhinneys

Once validated by McElhinneys, the Loyalty Account becomes active.

How old do I have to be to register?

All applicants must be at least 18-years-old on the date of creation of their account to become an M-Card loyalty programme member.

What are the four tiers of the M-Card Loyalty programme?
  • Tier 0 Membership - New Loyalty Sign Up 

Points can be earned but only redeemed once the minimum €500 spend on eligible products has been reached. Tier 0 members earn 50 points for every €10 spent on eligible products. 

  • Tier 1 Membership 

Applies to members who have reached the minimum spend threshold of €1000. Tier 1 Members earn 100 points for every €10 spent instore on eligible products. 

  • Tier 2 Membership 

Applies to members who have spent over €5,000 on eligible products in a calendar year. Tier 2 Members earn 150 points for every €10 spent instore on eligible products 

  • Tier 3 Membership 

Applies to members who have spent over €12,000 on eligible products in a calendar year. Tier 3 Members earn 200 points for every €10 spent instore on eligible products. 

 

Where can I Redeem Points?

The McElhinneys M-Card can be used in-store only. Points cannot be earned or redeemed online at the present time.

Can I redeem points if I forget my card?

Members must personally present a McElhinneys M-Card when making a purchase to earn points on that purchase. Cards cannot be shared or transferred.

When Can I start Spending My Points?

Members can start spending their points once the minimum spend threshold on tier 0 has been reached.

Is There Anything Points Cannot Be Earned On?

Points cannot be earned by Members: 1) on the purchase of Gift Card/s; 2) on delivery charges; 3) on in-store gratuities; 4) on in-store alterations; 5) on any items not deemed to be eligible.

McElhinney’s has the right at its sole discretion to determine from time-to-time which products and services are eligible for Points and the number of Points that will be credited per transaction.

Will There Be A Digital M-Card For Online Customers?

Currently, customers can only earn and redeem points in-store.

M-Card Loyalty Programme Terms & Conditions

 1.1 DEFINED TERMS

 

Account - Refers to a loyalty account set up on behalf of a member
Terms-  Refers to the general terms of this programme
Loyalty Card - Refers to a physical M-Card which can be used at McElhinneys Store, Main Street, Ballybofey, Co. Donegal
In-Store - Refers to McElhinneys Store, Main Street, Ballybofey, Co. Donegal
Member - Refers to the holder of an M-Card Loyalty Card account
Points - Has the meaning set out on Sections 4 & 5
Programme Refers to the McElhinneys Loyalty Programme, described as the M-Card Loyalty programme
Year - Refers to a calendar year running from January 1st to December 31st.


2. THE PARTIES

2.1 The promoter of the programme is John McElhinney Unlimited Company, Main Street, Ballybofey, Co Donegal, Company Registration Number: 54692.

2.2 A Member is any person who has applied for and has been granted a Loyalty M-Card by McElhinneys Store.

2.3 To become a Member, an applicant must become a registered account holder by creating an account, completing a hard copy registration form and submitting it in-store at McElhinneys. Once validated by McElhinneys, the Loyalty Account becomes active.

3. GENERAL

3.1 This page explains the terms of use on which we operate our loyalty programme and how to avail of your M-Card in-store only. Reference in these Terms and Conditions to “we”, “us”, “our” and “McElhinneys” refers to John McElhinney UC, Main Street, Ballybofey, Co. Donegal. Company Registration Number: 54692.

3.2 In the event that a McElhinneys M-Card is damaged, lost or stolen, McElhinneys may, at its discretion, provide a replacement loyalty card. Replacement cards can be obtained & registered in-store. McElhinneys does not accept any liability for lost, stolen or damaged Loyalty Cards.

3.3 The McElhinneys M-Card is not a credit, payment, or cheque guarantee card.

3.4 McElhinneys may amend these Terms at their discretion. McElhinneys will notify Members of any changes to these Terms. If a Member uses their M-Card following a change in the Programme, the Member will be deemed to have accepted the change.

3.5 All Members must be at least 18 years old on the date of creation of their Account.

3.6 McElhinneys reserves the right to exclude allocation of points to brands and departments as they see fit.

3.7 McElhinneys M-Card cannot be used on sale reduced goods or promotional items.

3.8 Members must personally present a McElhinneys M-Card, when making a purchase to earn points on that purchase. Cards cannot be shared or transferred.

3.9 For items held on deposit, any points gained will not be added to your M-Card until the purchase is completed in its entirety.

3.10 Membership is tiered according to each Member’s spend and each upwards tier of membership offers enhanced benefits. McElhinneys reserves the right to change a Member’s tier at its discretion where the Member’s spend substantially decreases or does not reach the required annual spend as stated.

3.11 The Member is obliged to notify McElhinneys in writing of any change in the Member’s address or other relevant Member details.

3.12 Points cannot be redeemed or earned in McElhinneys Bridal Rooms. Alterations on garments are also excluded from the McElhinneys M-Card loyalty programme.

4. THE FOUR TIERS OF THE M-CARD LOYALTY PROGRAMME

4.1 Membership is tiered according to each Member’s combined spend within McElhinneys Store on eligible products, with members moving up to the next tier once they have obtained a certain number of points and reached a specific spend threshold.

The breakdown of the M-Card tier structure is as follows:

Tier 0 Membership - Applies to new Loyalty Card holders. Points can be earned but only redeemed once the minimum €500 spend on eligible products has been reached. Tier 0 members earn 50 points for every €10 spent in-store on eligible products.

Tier 1 Membership -  Applies to members who have reached the minimum spend threshold of €1,000. Tier 1 Members earn 100 points for every €10 spent in-store on eligible products.

Tier 2 Membership - Applies to members who have spent over €5,000 on eligible products in a calendar year. Tier 2 Members earn 150 points for every €10 spent in-store on eligible products

Tier 3 Membership - Applies to members who have spent over €12,000 on eligible products in a calendar year. Tier 3 Members earn 200 points for every €10 spent in-store on eligible products.

4.2 Points can only be redeemed once your McElhinneys M-Card account has been activated, however, you can start collecting points straight away. Members may check their points balance in-store at any till point.

4.3 McElhinneys, at its discretion, may offer bonus points to Members at certain times.

4.4 McElhinneys, at its discretion, may suspend, alter, amend, or terminate the Programme at any time on giving reasonable notice to Members. Notice may be given online, by letter, through email communication to Members or by displaying notices in-store.

5. OPERATING THE PROGRAMME

Earning Points

5.1 Points can be earned by Members: 1) on purchases made in-store on eligible products; 2) by redemption of the physical McElhinneys Gift Card/s.

5.2 Points earned on in-store transactions will be applied to a Member’s account once membership has been activated. Points earned will be available to spend in-store after the minimum spend threshold has been reached. (See section 4.1)

5.3 Points cannot be earned by Members: 1) on the purchase of Gift Card/s; 2) on delivery charges; 3) on in-store gratuities; 4) on in-store alterations; 5) on any items not deemed to be eligible.

5.4 Points cannot be earned or redeemed on purchases made on mcelhinneys.com or using McElhinneys Digital Gift Card/s.

REDEEMING POINTS

5.5 Members can only redeem points in-store.

5.6 Points cannot be exchanged or redeemed for cash at any time.

5.7 McElhinney’s has the right at its sole discretion to determine from time-to-time which products and services are eligible for Points and the number of Points that will be credited per transaction.

5.7 Points have no monetary value and cannot be sold, transferred or otherwise dealt with except in accordance with these Terms.
Returns/Refunds/Deposits

5.8 On the return of any items that have been allocated Points, the number of Points earned on that transaction - in regard to the returned items only - shall be deducted from Member’s Account balance. The deduction will occur when a refund is completed in-store in accordance with McElhinneys returns and refund policies.

5.9 If a Member has redeemed Points towards the full or partial payment of an item that is subsequently returned, these Points will be credited back to the Account at the time of the successful completion of the return in accordance with McElhinneys returns and refund policies.

Points Expiry

5.10 Points collected must be redeemed within 2 calendar years. Unredeemed points will be removed from the Members M-Card if not redeemed within this time.

6. EFFECTIVE MEMBERSHIP ACCOUNT CANCELALTION OR PROGRAMME TERMINATION

6.1 McElhinneys may cancel a Member’s accumulated points or suspend the Loyalty Programme benefits, with immediate effect and without written notice for any reason and at the Promoter’s sole discretion, including, without limitation, if McElhinneys believes the Member has:

(a) acted in a manner inconsistent with applicable laws and regulations;
(b) acted in an inappropriate, fraudulent, abusive or hostile manner;
(c) breached or violated any of the Programme’s Terms and Conditions;
(d) fraudulently claimed eligibility to earn points;
(e) engaged in misconduct or any wrongdoing in connection with the Loyalty Programme.

6.2 The Loyalty Programme points, and other related benefits and services are the sole property of McElhinneys and are not the property of the Members. On cancellation of membership in the Loyalty Programme for any reason, all unredeemed points will be forfeited, and the Member will no longer be able to participate in the Loyalty Programme and McElhinneys will not compensate or pay cash for any forfeited or unused points.

6.3 If McElhinneys cancels a Member’s account for any reason, the Member may not reapply for membership in the Loyalty Programme, except in limited circumstances at McElhinneys sole discretion. Any account opened in the Member’s name and points earned in that account will be forfeited upon discovery.

6.4 If a Member cancels their account or becomes inactive, the Member may reapply for membership in the Loyalty Programme, but no points previously forfeited or expired will be reinstated to the Member’s account.

6.5 Members may cancel their subscription to the Loyalty Programme at any point by contacting The Loyalty Team on info@mcelhinneys.com.

7. DATA PROTECTION NOTICE

7.1 Personal data supplied to McElhinneys (e.g. name, address, email, telephone number) by a Member during the registration process will only be processed by McElhinneys for the purposes set out below and in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Other than as stated below, no personal data will be divulged to any third parties outside of McElhinneys or its data processors, unless required by law, or for us to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations or the protection of our interests or for defence against a legal claim.

7.2 Accounts and transactions may be monitored, for us to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

7.3 McElhinneys can use the personal data supplied by the Member in order to manage and administer the Programme and improve the way the Programme is run; to help McElhinneys understand Members’ shopping habits; to communicate information to Members; and to provide Members with relevant tailored offers by email, SMS or post, unless the Member opts out of the receipt of such offers in accordance with the Privacy Policy. Members are responsible for reading the Company’s Privacy Statement available at mcelhinneys.com in order to understand how the Company collects, uses and discloses Member’s data. 7.4 McElhinneys can also use information relating to sets or groups of Members, without identifying Members, to enhance its understanding of Member behaviour and enable McElhinneys to improve its service in general.

7.5 A Member can 'opt out' of marketing communications at any time, free of charge, if he/she/they does not want to be contacted by McElhinneys for direct marketing purposes, by ticking the appropriate box on the Registration Form or contacting a member of our loyalty team.

7.6 Any request by a Member for a copy of their data must be made, in writing, to the Data Protection Officer, at McElhinneys Store, Main Street, Ballybofey, Co Donegal.

8. LEGAL NOTICE

8.1 From signing the hard copy registration form, or from the first use of the M-Card, the Members’ agreement to these Terms and Conditions are implied.

8.2 These Terms and Conditions are governed by the Irish Laws and the Courts of the Republic of Ireland have jurisdiction in relation to this Agreement.

8.3 As part of our ongoing compliance with the Criminal Justice Act (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing), 2010, your data may be requested by the Department of Justice.

9. SEVERABILITY

9.1 If any of the Terms and Conditions contained herein affirm to be invalid, unenforceable, or illegal, then that term will be deemed to be severed from the Agreement and the balance of the Terms and Conditions will remain enforceable.

9.2 McElhinneys will have no liability to each member for any loss, damage and either contract or otherwise in connection with the operation of the Loyalty Programme.

10. MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS

10.1 By accepting and using your M-Card, you agree and give permission to McElhinneys to send you relevant emails, including but not limited to information about the Loyalty Programme, promotional offers of new or existing products and updates regarding the registration of the Programme.
