- The Katie Hannah range has been evolving and growing
The McElhinneys own brand, Katie Hannah, was launched late in 2016 as a new venture for the store, selling Candles and Reed Diffusers. The range has since expanded this year to include soaps, room spray, jams and chutneys – and we have a lot more planned for the coming months and years!
The Katie Hannah range was named in remembrance and celebration of the late mothers of John & Eileen McElhinney, and is inspired by the colours and scents of nature and the great outdoors that Donegal has to offer.

The McElhinneys online store was launched in 2012, and with the web and online services now a huge part of the business 5 years later, a huge extension has been added to McElhinneys to accommodate this growth in online services and of course our warehouse team! The expansion was a huge €2.3 million investment, and the store now covers a whopping 100,000 sq. ft. McElhinneys knows the value of investment, especially in people, employing almost 200 people - onwards and upwards for 2018!

One of the most highly anticipated events of the McElhinneys Year is always our Christmas Window Unveiling – and this year was the best one yet! Hundreds of people crowded the store and the streets of Ballybofey, bringing the town to a standstill on the 19th of November for us to reveal the windows, and this years’ theme ‘The Nutcracker’. It was a fabulous all-day free family event, and we are always blown away by the huge support of the community here in the North-West.

- So Sue says ‘I DO’ as a beautiful McElhinneys Bride
Ireland’s most stylish and successful blogger, Suzanne Jackson, celebrated her wedding day on the 5th August 2017 and we are incredibly proud that she was a McElhinneys Bride! Suzanne, known as So Sue Me, blew her guests away in a bespoke gown as she sailed down the aisle to marry her best friend Dylan O’Connor. Sue told VIP Magazine, “I went dress shopping last December to a couple of boutiques and the moment I walked into McElhinneys in Donegal I knew I was going to get my dress there. I have never seen a bridal shop like it, it’s amazing, it’s an experience, it’s huge.”
The team in the McElhinneys Bridal Rooms worked closely with American Designer, Hayley Paige, to create the perfect dress just for Suzanne. The princess-style dress had a full-bodied skirt, full-length lace sleeves and a sweetheart neckline with lace-detailed bodice and hand-stitched pearls. Suzanne’s mother, Susan Jackson, was also was dressed by McElhinneys in a full length, dusky pink coloured dress and matching gold baroque jacket from Fely Campo. We are incredibly proud to have brought some #McElhinneysMagic down to Skerries for such a special occasion!
As you can tell, we’ve had a pretty busy year in 2017, and none of that would be possible without the support of local, national and international customers, friends and family. We have had a wonderful, busy and exciting year, and we are incredibly excited to find out what 2018 has in-store for the McElhinney family 😊
Merry Christmas to you all and the very best wishes for the 2018, from all the team and McElhinneys!
