Our Kids Team are fully trained fitters, who will be able to help find exactly what your kid needs. Children’s feet grow every 3 months, so it is hugely important for those growing bones to have the correct fit and width, for support and room to grow! Good, structured footwear gives support to those bones to develop properly.
Providing that proper base and support ensures all feet shapes are taken care of or prevented – for example, fallen arches – making sure they wear the correct shoe now will help them later in life! At each step of the way, the amount of support, padding and structure can have a huge impact on those tiny feet!
The huge range of choice in McElhinney’s means that your child will be wearing the correct size, shape, and find a style they love. A hugely popular choice is ‘leather uppers’, where the outer and upper part of the shoe is made from real leather, this let’s their feet breathe, preventing diseases like athletes’ foot and helping children that suffer from eczema. In our Kids Department we also fit orthotics – useful for flat feet, fallen arches, growing pains, etc. – and it is very important to have correctly fitting footwear when wearing orthotics.
