12 Trends To Expect This Autumn/Winter

We are moving on not only to a new season but a new era for fashion this Autumn/Winter. You will see the trends this season reflect innovation and a style revival.

After the last 18 months where loungewear and casual clothing were the staple wardrobe, it’s about time we get a chance to dress up again. This is the season to be seen and express yourself through fashion. There are certain untold rules that are being broken. Expect bright colours, luxurious fabrics, retro influences and a denim revolution to name a few. This is the time to try something new, be daring I’ve included my favourite trends below. You are sure to find an Autumn/Winter trend to rock this season.

Knitwear Know-How

Wrap yourself in knitwear this Autumn, we have broken beyond the traditional knits and have evolved into the trends below.

Layering is a huge trend in knitwear, particularly with sweater vests. The ideal transition knitwear to layer over shirts, turtlenecks, and long sleeve tops for a chic but cosy look. Co-Ords are becoming more sophisticated this season using knitted fabric to give a dressier look. Let’s be honest we are so over the casual look. Comfy but dressed up is key this season for a more dressed-down look.

Oversized knitwear- mix oversize clothes and make them fashionable by combining with different colour combinations and textures. Nothing beats wearing a cosy chunky knit now that the weather is changing. Full-length max knits in dresses and cardigans - The maxi cardigan left open for that effortless layered look with jeans and a t-shirt is a perfect casual daytime look.

Autumn/Winter

Off Centre Shades

As soon as the leaves start to fall, we start to adapt our wardrobe to match the colours of nature introducing browns, mustards, green and burgundy,

This season there is a revival of the autumnal fashion palette we are seeing sorbet colours, diluted shades and secondary hues of brighter shades.

Our wardrobes are no longer as rigid when It comes to seasonal colour coding, sorbet shades are here to stay. The colours of the season are rust, mocha, mulberry, galaxy blue, fuschia, honey and merlot.

Autumn/Winter

The Neutrals

Designers have brought us some exquisite neutral collections in off whites and creamy tones. This can be seen in knitwear, outerwear, and footwear. Warmer shades of cream/beiges are a prominent AW palette this year. Go all out and opt for a head-to-toe neutral look, and skip those darker shades. A perfect way to achieve this trend this season is with a knitted maxi dress for an elegant, modern, and luxurious look.

Autumn/Winter

Told by Tailoring

The tailored vibe is slouchy, relaxed, and loose-fitting making the transition from loungewear to workwear a lot easier. There is a variety of styles and cuts to suit everyone depending on your desired look.

The revival of the power but thankfully no single era dominates, with the exception of flared trousers and cropped jackets synched at the waist for that '70s look, oversized grey checked suits for an '80s mood and pared-back pieces for a more refined '90s aesthetic.

Charming Chintz

The season’s autumnal blooms follow on from the flowers of summer but in some darker autumnal hues. These dresses are giving me major Bridgerton vibes with feminine frills and floral prints. There is a mixture of whimsical and Laura Ashley style prairie dresses. These floral fancies are everywhere this season puffed sleeves, frilled hems and full skirts is the look. This is perfect for the vintage lover that likes a modern twist.

Autumn/Winter

Retro Retake

The trends of the past have never really gone away but this year they are really going for it. Expect influences from the ’70s and ’80s. Vintage retro fashion is strong throughout key brands, expect to see belted leather skirts and dresses, huge collars, puffed sleeves and pussy-bow necklines. The prints and fabrics have that vintage look but are updated versions for the modern shopper. These dresses from our new collections are hitting these trends perfectly.

Trends to Note

Cut Outs:
A sassy minidress made interesting with the addition of a cut-out back. This allows you to try out the trend without being too daring. This Exquise dress is perfect to dabble in the cut-out trend.

Quilted Everything:

The quilted look is everywhere this season from quilted jackets, bags, skirts, and dresses! Perfect for the colder weather and the fabric adds texture to your wardrobe. This little jacket covers 3 of this season’s hot trends, quilted, cropped and neutral - pair it with the matching shorts and you've also hit the tailoring trend -  a great piece to add to your wardrobe to rock AW21 trends.

Keeps Those Tops Cropped:

The cropped look is really on-trend to balance the bottom half, as volume is the style of jeans, flared trousers, and skirts.

The waist length and above is where to keep your jackets to keep the look flattering and trendy.

Puffa Coats:

The puffa is here to stay and there are more waist length versions available. The printed puffa is the casual coat of the season.

This beige puffer jacket by B.Young incorporates beautiful natural tones, another top trend for this season.

Volume Denim:

When it comes to jeans, go big or go home. Flares, bootcut and barrels are the go-to cuts. These barrel jeans give an even ratio from the hip to the ankle which is perfect for elongating the legs. It gives a more relaxed denim look so changing a few key pieces can help you to transition from day to night.

Logo A Go:

Logos are everywhere this season, brands are proudly displaying their logos in the print. Some are less obvious and require further inspection to see the branding.

These versatile pieces are part of a brand’s heritage, the monogram is here to stay across all brands from accessories to clothing. This Gant argyle knit jumper is a perfect way to dip your toe in the logo trend.
