McElhinneys has been selected as a finalist in the CIPD Ireland HR Awards 2018. These prestigious awards recognise excellence in HR, celebrating outstanding achievement in people management and development.
McElhinneys was announced as a finalist in the Organisational Development / Learning & Development category for "The McElhinney Way", a strategic initiative, which has acted as a catalyst for organisational development through transformational change and learning.
According to the CIPD website, “This award will be looking for entries that demonstrate a strong link between organisation development activity and achieving business goals.” Entrants to this award category should demonstrate an organisational culture that promotes and improves on training, development, learning, managing performance and indicates an openness to feedback.
According to Yvonne Megahey, Senior People & Development Manager, “’The McElhinney Way’ encompasses the essence of who we are and what we do. As we move towards our fiftieth year in business, we continue to recognise that our people are the difference, which is particularly important in the retail market. Our commitment to learning and development, linked to business goals, ensures high levels of employee engagement and that McElhinneys is fit for the future.”
The CIPD Awards are subject to a rigorous selection process and two-rounds of judging which is overseen by Professor Bill Roche of UCD Smurfit Graduate Business School.
All the finalists will present to a panel of judges on the January 17th, with the awards ceremony taking place on February 16th in the Intercontinental Hotel, Ballsbridge. The team at McElhinneys have their fingers crossed for another win, following Sandra Devenney’s win as Retail Excellence Ireland Store Manager of the Year 2018 in November. More on that, here.
